ROM Manager Gets Updated To Include Ability To Download Zip Backups To Your Computer

As the process of flashing custom ROMs to your devices becomes an easier process, it’s only natural that we see tools to make the whole management process easier and the latest ROM Manager update strives to do just that. The latest ROM Manager update brings not only some welcome bug fixes, but it also includes the ability to download Backups to your PC using the new ROM Manager Backup Download Server feature. What this means is that users will be able to backup various files into a flashable zip file that you can then flash back to most device from a ClockworkMod recovery. Pretty neat huh?

Next Launcher Is Released To The Masses, Gives Another Taste Of 3D Homescreens

We all know how popular and awesome GO Launcher already is– but the maker now has a new launcher up its sleeves for the masses to try out called Next Launcher. It’s a 3D-based launcher which has full 3D elements and 3D effects, while featuring items like an unlimited screen layout, stereoscopic screen preview and of course, those fancy 3D widgets that compliment the 3D screen. Essentially– Next Launcher is GO Launcher in full 3D— and who doesn’t want to see a cool 3D launcher to cover up their awful skin on their Android device?

The new launcher is up for all  Android 2.2+ devices, but will run you about 16 bucks— which might be a bit hefty for some. Still– the launcher is intriguing enough, so if you’re willing overlook the steep price and give it a try, head on down to the Play Store today and give it a try.

Sony releases Emma, a flash tool for flashing stock ROMs on unlocked Xperia devices

Sony continues to show us how much love they have for hacking and tinkering by releasing Emma, a new flash tool for Xperia devices with unlocked bootloaders. It’s in beta, and it gives users the ability to revert back to Sony stock ROMs. For starters, it’s only available on the Xperia S, Xperia arc, and Xperia arc S, but more handsets will be added soon. You can download the software from their developer site and check out the video to see how easy it is.

CyanogenMod 10 Nightlies Now Available for Nexus 10

The Nexus 10 may not be selling as well as LG’s Nexus 4, but that hasn’t detracted from its surmountable capabilities. A little more than a week after making its global debut, the Nexus 10 has received a fully functional root toolkit.

This custom toolkit will allow users to easily root the Nexus 10, as well as perform various root-related functions like unlocking your bootloader, backing up system partitions and installing USB drivers, all without a need to touch that often-feared command line. It’s a fantastic tool for those who are new to rooting their device, or simply want to save valuable time.

CyanogenMod Apollo music player now available on Google Play in both free and paid capacities

Earlier this year, the CyanogenMod team announced that Apollo would be replacing the stock music player to allow for a fully customizable and enthralling experience. When it was first announced, we were told to expect it to arrive in the Android Market within the next couple of weeks. Here we are nearly 10 months later, and the highly anticipated application has finally made its way to what we now call the Google Play Store.

It’s the same music player we’ve come to know and love, and now everybody can take part. Apollo comes in two different capacities: the regular free version and the paid Apollo+ version. Apollo+ costs just 99 cents, features quicker updates and removes pesky advertisements. Future updates are said to bring concert information, tablet optimization, personalized widgets and notifications, as well as support for Google’s Daydream service.

HD Widgets Gets Updated To Bring More Widgets, Increased Functionality To Android 4.2

HD Widgets has recently been updated to include even more functionality for those of you on Android 4.2. Right off the bat, users of the product will be treated to a total of 11 widgets— 6 for smartphones and 5 for tablets. In addition to the new widgets, users will also be treated improved widget filtering and of course, some minor bug fixes which helps to alleviate any sort of minor annoyances and all.

CM10 Stable Builds Rolling Out To Select Devices

Those of you who have been looking to get some Jelly Bean lovin’ courtesy of the CyanogenMod team will be all smiles at this news. The CM team has officially announced the final CM10 stable builds are being released for a handful of devices at this time. The lucky devices to make the first cut at the Sprint and Verizon Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S II LTE and LG Optimus Black smartphones. Unfortunately those devices are the only ones with a stable CM10 build as of now and there is no timeline for when other devices can finally taste the stable goodness just yet. Hopefully the CM team will work its magic and roll out additional builds to the other devices sooner than later.

Sony Xperia T gets James Bond Skyfall theme

Sony has been pretty determined in advertising the Xperia T as a James Bond phone, and I’d say they’ve succeeded. Xperia T owners can take it a step further now with a complete 007 theme pack, thanks to XDA forum member ruwsoft. The theme pack includes ringtones, images, and all kinds of small changes to really get that James Bond feel.

It’s a simple installation, but the phone must be rooted. Aside from that, it’s a painless installation; download file, unzip file, drop the .apk in the phone’s system/vendor/overlay/framework/ folder, and reboot. Quick and simple. Hit the source for download links and the post on XDA.
