Give Your Smartphone An Exotic Look With aniPet Aquarium LiveWallpaper (Video)

by Joe Sirianni on
tagged , , , , ,

If you’re an exotic fish lover and you adore Android, boy do we have a treat for you.  aniPet Aquarium LiveWallpaper gives you the next best thing to having the real deal.  This live wallpaper allows you to create your very own aquarium with the ability to choose from 114 different kinds of species of fish. While the developer promises more species will follow, they’ve allowed for up to 15 of your chosen favorites to be displayed at any given time.  The application is extremely interactive and is sure to keep your little ones busy in the back seat for those long trips.

The app sort of reminds me of those Digi Pets, thanks to the added feature that allows you to feed your fish and watch them grow.  You’re fully responsible for the well being of your beloved exotic species.  Are you ready for that kind of responsibility?  Heck, if your fish survives it to maturity, it can even produce offspring!  As you can see, there are a ton of extras with this wallpaper.  It’s one of the most interactive and detailed live wallpapers I’ve seen so far.  Other features include the ability to change the speed of the fish, how fast they grow, what kind of food you can feed them and even sports the ability to tinker with light animations.  Definitely check this one out if you’re a live wallpaper fan.  Head on over to our popular apps database for more info and to snag the QR code directly from your smartphone.  Don’t forget to let us know what you think of the app in the comments below.  Hit the break for a quick video demo and to view more screenshots.   » Read the rest

Be Wowed By Shadow Galaxy Live Wallpaper For Android

by Joe Sirianni on
tagged , , , , , ,

One of the better Live Wallpapers I’ve seen to pass through the market has definitely got to be Shadow Galaxy by developer maxelus.net.  We’ve seen a few Live Wallpapers from this developer before  and it looks like they are showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to innovation.  If you’re a Live Wallpaper buff, then this one has definitely got to make it onto your device and into a “this is freaking cool” folder.  Once activated, your desktop is immediately hurled into outer space where you’ll be lightly swirling through a vortex of galaxies along with distant shadows of bits and pieces of debris and planets everywhere.  It doesn’t get any cooler than this one folks.  The only thing that would make this wallpaper even more of a hit would have been to add some interactive functionality or some settings for speed etc.  Otherwise, this is sure to appeal to everyone and definitely something to show off to your non smartphone buddies.  Hit the break for some more pics of the app and to snag the QR code for the download.  Follow the market link for a video demo of the app in action.  Feel free to plug away in the comments below.    » Read the rest

Live Wallpaper – Auto Updates Weather based on your GPS Location

by Adam Johnson on
tagged , , , , ,

You like your live wallpapers? Always need the weather to be easily accesible with a glance? Well there are a ton of apps out there that will keep you updated on the weather via a widget, such as Beautiful Widget and GO Weather.

We’ve learned from XDA that there is a live wallpaper created by a member that will change as the weather changes, and updated depending on your location using GPS. This live wallpaper originated as a stock feature on the Samsung Galaxy S II. The videos have been extracted and compiled into an apk, and will possibly install on your Android device that supports live wallpaper. If you give this a try, let us know in the comments what device you have it running on, and of any issues you may have come across while using it. Check out the jump for a Youtube video from the XDA thread on this subject.

Solar Wind Live Wallpaper is a mesmerizing live wallpaper for Android

by Tyler Cunningham on
tagged , ,

If live wallpapers are your thing, you’re going to want to check out Solar Wind Live Wallpaper. I’ve seen some pretty nice live wallpapers in my day, but this is probably the most visually stunning example I have ever seen.

It is extremely well optimized for OpenGL, and runs like butter on my Incredible. It comes with five pre-installed settings: Classic, Undertow, Cosmic, Space, and Jiggly. You can also customize your own, with options for particle number, size, speed, and advanced options like wind speed.

Also, because it is so well optimized, I found that it did not drain my battery as much as some other live wallpapers I’ve tried. So, if you’re running Android 2.1 or higher, I highly recommend checking this one out. Hit up our app database link below to download Solar Wind Live Wallpaper for free!

Android 2.3 Wallpapers for Some Rooted Phones

by Chris Moor on
tagged , ,

There is no release of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but for those feeling the itch like Christmas is right around the corner, look no further. Gingerbread live wallpapers may be available for your (rooted) phone. There is no given reason for why this doesn’t work for all phones, but it is said to be available for the HTC EVO 4G, Droid Incredible and Droid X. The process is simple, and the files come compressed for your ease. Another possibility is manually installing the APK yourself using software similar to Root Explorer. It is recommended that you make a copy of your Livewallpaper.apk before attempting the install. To get started follow the instructions by clicking here.

If you’re a fan of live wallpapers, here’s one to help get you in the holiday/wintery spirit. Winter Dreams Live Wallpaper for Android is a simple but very attractive live wallpaper which features a giant white Christmas tree and large, falling snowflakes. Also, the background changes as you slide between screens, which is a nice touch.

There are no settings so you cannot change the size or rate of the snowfall, but I kind of like the default setting anyway. So, if live wallpapers are your thing and you’ve been looking for something for winter or the holidays, you should check out Winter Dreams Live Wallpaper by hitting up our source link below.

Free Doom Live Wallpaper for Android

by Tyler Cunningham on
tagged , , ,

I’m not usually a fan of live wallpapers, but this one combines some nostalgia with good ol’ fashioned awesome sauce. Some clever individual hacked together a live wallpaper using some sequences from Doom, featuring everyone’s favorite protagonist in an endless battle with some baddies.

It may drain your battery, but that’s what chargers are for, right?. Doom Live Wallpaper is free (admob supported) and you can hit up a download link, as well as a video demonstration, after the break.
