If live wallpapers are your thing, you’re going to want to check out Solar Wind Live Wallpaper. I’ve seen some pretty nice live wallpapers in my day, but this is probably the most visually stunning example I have ever seen.
It is extremely well optimized for OpenGL, and runs like butter on my Incredible. It comes with five pre-installed settings: Classic, Undertow, Cosmic, Space, and Jiggly. You can also customize your own, with options for particle number, size, speed, and advanced options like wind speed.
Also, because it is so well optimized, I found that it did not drain my battery as much as some other live wallpapers I’ve tried. So, if you’re running Android 2.1 or higher, I highly recommend checking this one out. Hit up our app database link below to download Solar Wind Live Wallpaper for free!
There is no release of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but for those feeling the itch like Christmas is right around the corner, look no further. Gingerbread live wallpapers may be available for your (rooted) phone. There is no given reason for why this doesn’t work for all phones, but it is said to be available for the HTC EVO 4G, Droid Incredible and Droid X. The process is simple, and the files come compressed for your ease. Another possibility is manually installing the APK yourself using software similar to Root Explorer. It is recommended that you make a copy of your Livewallpaper.apk before attempting the install. To get started follow the instructions by clicking here.
If you’re a fan of live wallpapers, here’s one to help get you in the holiday/wintery spirit. Winter Dreams Live Wallpaper for Android is a simple but very attractive live wallpaper which features a giant white Christmas tree and large, falling snowflakes. Also, the background changes as you slide between screens, which is a nice touch.
There are no settings so you cannot change the size or rate of the snowfall, but I kind of like the default setting anyway. So, if live wallpapers are your thing and you’ve been looking for something for winter or the holidays, you should check out Winter Dreams Live Wallpaper by hitting up our source link below.
I’m not usually a fan of live wallpapers, but this one combines some nostalgia with good ol’ fashioned awesome sauce. Some clever individual hacked together a live wallpaper using some sequences from Doom, featuring everyone’s favorite protagonist in an endless battle with some baddies.
It may drain your battery, but that’s what chargers are for, right?. Doom Live Wallpaper is free (admob supported) and you can hit up a download link, as well as a video demonstration, after the break.
Are you using the Particle Storm live wallpaper we told you about a few days ago? Well if you are then make sure to grab the update that was just released. With version 1.5.2 of the live wallpaper, the change log is:
Massive speed optimization
I can’t confirm the battery optimization, but I can confirm the speed boost. Previously, running the particle count as “ludicrous” on my Epic 4G resulted in noticeable lag. However now that I got the update, I can run a ludicrous particle count with no lag at all. So by all means, make sure you grab the latest update. You can watch the following video to see the Epic 4G getting laggy with the old version of Particle Storm.
Probably one of the coolest things about Android 2.1+ devices are live wallpapers. Whether it’s Super Mario running around on your phone or a circuit board there are quite a few attractive options. The latest one that I’ve found is called ParticleStorm. ParticleStorm is a very customizable wallpaper that you can configure both ascetics and performance. Just take a look at the video:
