Hi,
I have never been with Vodafone before and was wondering if anyone could provide me with some info regarding network coverage in the UK ( including 3.5 G) and customer services. Very tempted to get the Magic, just wanted to make sure before being tied down for 18-24 months.
Thanks
Samsom

I have been with vodafone for about 14 years now I think.

The area I live in has reasonable 3G coverage and it seems to be pretty good in London.

Their customer service has always been very good.

My criticism of them recently is a gaping whole in the tariffs ( between 250mins and 500mins has no tariff. I use about 350 so I have to pay for the 500 )

Have you considered getting one on ebay?

Prices will come down before too long.

My price plan is like £35 a month and is an 18 month commitment which costs me £630.

I recently bought myself a G1 on ebay (unlocked) for £170. When my contract ends I am looking to move to sim only, O2 simplicity for example is £19.50 a month and comes with an unlimited (fair use) web bolt on and 1000 mins and 800 texts or something. Best of all you only have a 30 day commitment to them.

So, 18 months @ £19.50 = £351
Cost of phone = £170

Total: 521.

That's £100 quid saved even with buying myself a phone and I can change carriers at the drop of a hat.

Don't think i will be going contract again to be honest.

Well, The G1 ( HTC Dream)is certainly cheap right now. But I was planning on getting the HTC Magic which is the successor to the G1. The unlocked G2 is priced at £600 without a contract. Therefore it makes sense to go for a contract.
Thanks for the useful comments about the service provided by Vodafone.

I have seen the Magic going at around £250 - £300 on eBay. If you can wait a few months you might save yourself a nasty 18 / 24 month commmitment. You can probably get it unlocked for a tenner.

Hi, for me vodafone was quit bad. I ordered the desire on 11 of june for an upgrade. They kept calling me saying that they didnt have any in stock. I said I want to keep waiting. After another 2 weeks I just ordered samsung galaxy s, got it, was not what I expected for the price and returned it within days. After that I got the Desire and it is a beast, but back to the services, well I dont really care but if you cant wait to get a new phone better got to phones 4u or carphone warehouse as they will probobly deliever it quicker. Ohh and I got the Galaxy S near the end of June so a long time after I could get it first

hope that helped!
