Now that I have the G1 and have played with it for a few weeks, I thought I'd come back and say that it IS worth it to get the phone even if you aren't in a 3G area. I have been pleased with my G1's performance in Edge networks so far. When we finally get 3G I'm sure it'll be even better, but until then, everything on the phone functions just as well in Edge networks. Just maybe it's taking a little more time than it would otherwise need.
