I was told by a customer service rep from TMobile that the 16 GB SD is now approved for use. I went out and purchased one and all my applications worked except for the camera and picture applications. When I tried to use these applications it couldn't recognize the SD card. The camera and pictures apps work on my 1 GB SD so I know the problem is the 16 SD card. Is there a firmware update on the way to fix this problem or should I return the 16 GB SD and get an 8 GB. If there is an firmware update on the way to fix the problem I will wait.

It might be the card itself as I am using a 16GB card in my device and it is working just fine. Mine is a Sandisk 16GB card I got from Amazon.

A few things you might want to try.

1) make sure the card is formatted properly. Using windows or MACs formatting functionality does not always format larger cards correctly. if you have a Windows machine, use this formatter which formats to the spec according to the SD card association. http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...formatter.html

Make sure you check in the options are set to Format Size Adjustment "ON". (It is off by default) When this is set to off, some devices have problems with larger cards.

2) Make sure the card is mounted when inserted. You can see that in the settings under SD Card & Storage.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

It probably isn't the same as the problem you're having, but in the past I've had issues with the included 1GB card not being recognized. I simply ejected it and reinserted it. You may try reformatting the card as well.

I had the same problem ever since I bought the phone and finally found the fix for this problem.
Even HTC and T-mobile could not figure out this easy fix.
I assume everybody with the G1 bought a bigger SD card or at one point or another formated their disc. The problem is that you need to make sure that the format is done in FAT32.
I just did this and the camera is finally working for me.
I hope this will help everybody.
