Uk Update Rc-8 Has Just Been Released And Install On My G1!!!!
Heres How To Do It:
Install "anycut" From The Marketplace, Create A Shortcut To "device Info", Open This Shortcut And Scroll To The Bottom . Select The "check For Upgrade Button"
This Will Locate And Install The Upgrade.
Superb!!
Ps. I Was Trying This Method Earlier On Today But It Only Found The Update Now At 2am So It Looks Like They Just Put It On!!!!
Enjoy!!!!

Or alternatively, if you don't want to wait like me, you could do it yourself

Thing, is its auto, Switch, hey. - as far as i can see it adds a 'USB is plugged in' thing to the notifications, which may have been there already.

No that's new and ties in with the US update RC 29 i think.
Just got the update myself too. I kinda wish we were on the same US update numbers, it's gonna get a little confusing working out what's new.
Anyone know if our RC 8 is the equivalent of RC 29 + 30 bundled together?

Did you have to enter anything in the request build type text box?
When I hit check for upgrade the check in status changes to checkin_sucess but then nothing else happens?

I'm getting the exact same as you, no update yet. Are T-Mobile releasing it in blocks?
The only thing I can think is I ported my number from 3, and while my number works, my T-Mobile assigned number still appears in the phone status? I doubt that has anything to do with it, but did you port your number over?

I ported mine from Vodafone and the number only came across yesterday. My phone also shows the old number but I received the update no problem today.
As I said in a different topic, the rep I spoke to at T-mobile told me last week that he expected the update to be rolled out in the UK between the 12th and 14th so I'd not lose any sleep over it unless you wake up on Sat morning and there's still no update.
On a separate note, like others, I'm noticing inferior battery life with the update than before. It might be a coincidence, I'm not sure. Up 'till now, I've been getting 2 days from a charge. This morning, I took the phone off charge and the update came in shortly after. After the update, I was down to 80%! Perhaps the process of updating itself consumes a lot of battery power which is throwing our perceptions out??
I'm now down to 67% which indicates minimal consumption since this morning..
