My G1 has worked great until around April 3rd, 2010. I received an Android firmware update at that time and since then my phone will not work using EDGE. I get no data or voice. 3G works great for both phone and data. T-Mobile replaced my G1 but that did not resolve the problem. I did get a cheap Motorola loaner phone for 2 weeks and it had no problems making voice calls.
My phone drops voice\data as soon as I leave 3G and go to EDGE. When I go back near a 3G tower, I have to re-register on the TMobile network to get my phone working again.
Anyone else having this issue?
