In store demo units?

Do you think they'll be some demo units available in store before the 22nd?

I would probably think not, most stills will get a demo handset but i doubt it will be allowed out onto the shop floor until launch day.

From what i can tell pre-orders are only being taken online, the t-mobile sales lines and in-store employees cant process them.

So i see little point in them offering test units in the stores. Plus besides google fans, and geek early adoptors i doubt anyone else really knows about the G1.

There was only ONE person I work with that knew anything at all related to Google, G1, TMO, OHA and or Android. He showed excitement for it also, wants to know if he can check it out when I get it.

He a geek too.

That's awesome, must admit i'm in a similar boat - not one of my friends has any idea what Android or the G1 is.

It'll be interesting to watch t-mobile's/Google marketing campaign unfold especially in how they plan to market to the different demographics.

Will they even try to appeal to the average consumer?

well judging by the early sell outs its safe to say that even if this isn't an i phone killer its still going to be a bit tough to get your hands on for a few months. i hope to have one by no later than November. but i cant preorder it now due to my contract... sucks big time.

Asked if i was counting down the days, so, on the clock, I pull out my Shadow smartphone, and state that there are 12 days to go.

we get to talking about how we (geeks) know better about waiting for the second generation of ANY device, but ... as i told him, i just couldn't wait!

I'm not pre-ordering specifically because I want the chance to hold one in my hand and see it in person before I buy. I am worried that if I buy it I'll be wishing I waited for the second generation. I'll especially be sour if generation two comes out quickly and is a vast improvement.
