Ok, here's a sticky thread for all release speculation and launch dates for the upcoming HTC Dream phone.

The latest rumor/speculation i've read is that the official release date will be October 20th:
http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/09/16...lease-date-is/

I know that "A little birdy just dropped by CrunchGear HQ" is hardly credible but an end-of October window has been floating around for sometime now, and recent rumors of a September 23rd announcement were spot-on.

It also matches what the WSJ reported earlier in the week:

Quote:
T-Mobile, a Deutsche Telekom AG unit, is expected to announce the phone Sept. 23, people familiar with the matter said. The device is due to hit stores as soon as the end of October, these people said. The phone’s pricing couldn’t be determined.

Gonna be a little tricky managing the overlapping between forums but here goes.

The phone is going to be available for current T-Mobile customers(Sept. 17). Shipping to stores Sept. 20, available to the public friday of that week.

What do you think will happen on the 23rd?

Is it purely an event to announce the Android platform will be officially launched from T-Mobile? Or do you think they'll make the phones available from that day?

I don't think they'll launch the G1 from tomorrow's event, i'd say the recent 'third week in October' timeframe sounds about right for when they'll become available.

We'll just get all the major details for the handset along with hopefully some more indepth information from Google as to the finer points of Android, and possibly the application store.
