I'm getting a cell phone real soon, and I can sadly only get it on Sprint. So is there any phones that I can install android on or that come with android that will work on a sprint phone?
My mom wants to do the add a line for 9.99 thing I guess, So it has to work with that some how.
So is there anyway I can get Android, I really want it I'm a big Google fan, and a big Linux fan.

EDIT: Or I can also get a pay as you go phone, So is there any andiod phones that are pay as you go yet?

Can you get the G1 prepaid?
It would seem to hard... It's not my choose, I gotta use sprint or prepaid
And I know they hacked some phones to use Android... Is there any prepaid or sprint phones that have been hacked?

or get hold of an unlocked phone, but then you have to be aware that you really do need a data package with your device to get the full user enjoyment out of it

If you have your heart set on an Android phone by Sprint you'd be better to wait a little longer and see what announcements (if any) come out of next months Mobile World Congress event.

The dev phone is a lil much, $200 is the must I could spend...
Unlocked phone?, What phone, G1 unlocked?
and why to the data package thing?

I guess I could, But it's supposed to be a birthday gift, and the 20th is my birthday. Is there no way to hack any other phone to run Android yet?

Not reliably enough for everyday use...

A lot of the G1's shinyness relies on it having an internet connection. (Same with iPhone, Blackberries) Unless you add a data plan, you will get charged on an ad-hoc basis and it will cost you LOADS.

Has the Dev Phone 1 been confirmed to work on Sprint? They're part of the alliance, but I haven't been able to confirm the compatibility of WCDMA and Sprint's flavor of CDMA? I like Sprint, I want an Android phone, and I'm big on instant gratification.

Anyone know for certain?

I read that many HTC phones will run Android (like the Diamond), but the device will need 128mb of RAM for all features. A quick google search suggests this as a starting point -> http://www.mopocket.com/2008/07/goog...xv6800-etc.php
