I've had a Samsung Moment for about a year now. Applied the update with no problems. Was using Zedge to provide ringtones and txt message sounds. I had a 4gb microSD card in the phone, and I purchased an 8gb to replace it. I copied and pasted the file structure from the 4gb on to the 8, stuck it in phone, and suddenly all my notification sounds were screwed up. When I got an e-mail, my phone played Katy Perry's "E.T." which was in my AUDIO folder, but was not selected as the e-mail notification sound from inside the "email" application. *standard e-mail, not the moxier mail app*. No matter how many times I selected another sound from the default list, it kept playing "E.T." My text message sound also changed.
I work at a Target store, and we have one of the new Target Mobile kiosks (manned by RadioShack employees), so I took my phone in and described my problem. The associate removed my memory card, asked me if I had anything on the phone that I wanted to save, and when I said "no, why?" he reset my phone to factory settings.
Which only jacked up my system even more.
My phone stopped vibrating when I got text messages.
I took it back and met with another associate. He switched my phone to one of the default text message tones, sent it a text, and said "there, now it vibrates." However, I want it to vibrate from one of my downloaded tones. But Zedge no longer appears as an option to select sounds from when I open the "notifications" open.
Also, before they reset my phone, underneath the "notification sounds" option in "System" was a "vibrate for notifications" checkbox. Which is now gone.
Completely at a loss without my vibrating txts. Wondering if I should re-apply the downloaded update, even though my phone says "android 2.1 - update 1" under the system info.
Has anyone else had this extremely wierd issue happen?
