Hello TalkAndroid members,

Im new to this forum and love to be part of it.

Anyways story goes like this.

I bought my phone the 20th of November,
I've done some research on updating the firmware,
and noticed that my firmware is out of date.
Despite the fact that i bought it a few days ago.
Im running firmware i7500XXII5, and the latest is H8 isn't it?
Okay having said that,
i've downloaded the latest NPS, Installed drivers including the unknown devices,
as i went through some topics on this forum. I tested it on my Windows XP 32 bit SP 3 and my Vista 64 bit SP 1 all up to date.
It recognizes my phone within NPS as GT-7500 and it brings me 2 other removable media's which is my Internal memory.

However when i try to update it, it says it doesn't support this phone.
I've enabled USB Debugging so that's not the case could it be?

Im really pissed about the lack of support samsung software is bringing as of today, i've spent hours on trying to update it but no succes.

Then i came across Odin, Which im abit skeptical about,
theres almost to nothing to find on the internet, and it doesn't really look legal now is it?

Im from the netherlands maybe that is why theres no update support for my phone maybe? I'd love to see some feedback on this 1.

Anyways, any suggestions are welcome and i appreciate your time on helping me out solving this problem.

Greets,

Poxxy

And im back..
I just flashed my phone with Odin,
Now my firmware is H8 now.
And its downloading all my contacts back from synchronisation whatever you call it.
SO yeah,, when you use odin, you lose everything except your music and stuff on your Internal SD.

Thanks.

Oops!

The firmware breaks down like this:

I7500XXXI5

I7500 - Model for the phone
XXI - Region the phone is for/from.
I - Month of firmware (A=Jan, B=Feb, C=Mar -- so I = september
5 - build number of firmware

So H8 = august build 8, and I5 = sepetember build 5

So I5 is newer than H8

And im back again. Lol,

I've installed that HDBlog version.
It's pretty neat, i like it.
However UMTS didn't work for me (G3),
I've went through some settings however no succes.
So i was forced to go back to the II5 official.
It was a shame really, it was really fast, nice interface. so much new features.
Maybe if you know how to turn on G3 please reply.
And by the way, my provider is KPN.

You need to go in and add the APN.

If you're on the stock rom now go here:

settings -> wireless -> mobile networks -> access point names -> (click the APN)

make a note of all the settings. Now install galaxo, go into the same settings. This time hit menu and click 'new apn'. Put the settings in. Reboot and you're done!

I've got another issue, wondering if you could help me once again,
I can't get me location on GPS on google maps for some reason,
it did work on the original II5, it's accuracy was like 7 meters.

Go to settings -> security and location

and turn on 'use wireless networks'. This will let it use cell towers to figure out where you are. If you want more accurate location u need to turn on GPS from the same menu. Remember to turn it off afterwards tho because its a real battery eater!

Also remember GPS rarely locks on indoors.
