Hehe fair enough. Using the update.zip method is actually totally safe because you can always reflash using odin. There's no chance of bricking the phone since the bootloader and baseband are not flashed.

The decision is weather you want to use Odin. Now ALL CSC (branding) bundles are available so you can always drop back to your operators build if you're worried about waranty.

i have all the drivers installed. still can't update. i get "This device is not supported. The device you have selected does not support software upgrade."

sucks

i installed galaxhero. it was lightning fast at first but after a few days, seems to be running a bit sluggish. for example, i changed the wallpaper. now, when i go from the applications menu back to the desktop using the home button, i get a black screen for 4 or 5 seconds, then i get the wallpaper pic i put on there for 3 or 4 more seconds, then the icons appear. closing and opening stuff isn't as fast as it was a few days ago either. i am eager for samsung to get their act together and release a decent update and support their software better. i am pretty disappointed so far. wishing i splurged for the hero at this point.

The hero does the same thing when ram gets low. I think the renice values for the galaxo rom need some work.

have a look at the extra processes you can kill here to free up even more ram:

the default compcache value is also a bit too high imho. Something like 8mg or 12mb is probably better. I'm running it without compcache with the above processes removed and have 40mb+ free on fresh boot

Hi, there

If you are connected with Wifi or 3G/GPRS constantly, it will last no more than max talk time (which is 6 hours) with fully charged battery.

Cheers
