Galaxy S routed not connecting to Kies

I just bought a Galaxy S SGH-I896, its rooted & thats what it said under "about phone"
Model number GT-I9000
Firmware version 2.2.1
Baseband version I9000UGJK4
kernel version 2.6.32.9
Build number Twingerbread 4.3

I tried to use samsung kies, but I cant get the phone to connect!! is there something I should do OR use another software?

yow, i also experience that problem though not in galaxy S but just only in galaxy Y
which supposedly must interface the phone to the computer, but i also can't get the phone connected with kies

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't rooted phones no longer able to use Kies?
