Hi,

I am considering buying a new smartphone and have had my eyes on the N1 for a few months. Just wondering if the N1 is as best a buy as I can get. I won't be buying contract, just the unlocked version, so this is already £400 ($550).

Suggest any alternatives!

P.s. Yes, unlocked then buying sim-only contract is cheaper than buying free-phone contract form Vodaphone.

Get the desire. I was waiting for the N1. But got bored of waiting!! Its the same phone (sort of!!) Only htc have supercharged it so its quicker and got a little more memory. Has hard buttons and a optical track pad. Only thing is you dont get the voice enabled stuff like the speech to text. But this seems a little gimmicky to me... And it probably will be launched for the desire soon anyway! If your not a fan of the sense ui. This can be turned off and you can run 2.1 os on its own. But the sense ui is very nice to use!!!

It's just that the N1 looks incredible. The interactive home screen, the grey shell case... Ah...

Is the Desire the same?

Its a oldish review. But has most of the points.

The stand by time on the desire is longer. I would suggest going to vodafone playing with the n1 then popping over the road to tmobile and playing with the desire. But i reckon the desire is the best phone ive had in a long time! (since i got the g1!!!)
