So, elephant in the room, the Almighty Nexus One has no insurance. I'm using it under T-Mobile and they don't offer it neither. I'm in contact with SquareTrade because they insure any phone for less than $100 dollars for 2 year plan with a $50 dollar deductible. Has anyone heard anything about SquareTrade? I'm kind of iffy about it.

If you have renters or home owners insurance, ask your insurer if they offer a personal articles rider for your policy. Certain to be a way better deal than anything some fly-by-night company offers. Case in point, I had a DSLR that got stolen. Called up State Farm and had a check for the replacement cost in the mail, no hassle and no deductible. The insurance cost me like $7 a month for equipment that was worth about $2k.

Great idea! I just got my Nexus One, the screen is HUGE! I'm going to get PhantomSkinz for it. I have it on my MyTouch and love it! Its great to protect the phone from scratches and it was so easy to put on. One of my friends told me there running a 33% of deal right now and it includes two skins in every kit. The skin plus insurance, cant go wrong!

I have used square trade for items purchased on EBAY and they are on point. So it's a good alternative if you don't get carrier or manufacturer insurance so, there's no worries.

What I'm worried about SquareTrade is that they only have the option to insure iPhone or "Other". The "Other" option can pertain to a huge variety of devices. How would I specify whether I'm insuring my Nexus One or some sh*ty RAZR? They would have no way of knowing.

Insurance is available for the Nexus one. Its through Asurion. Independent Mobile Insurance company. If your carrier is T-Mobile just call them and ask them to apply it to your account or you can do it yourself at t-mobile.com. Thats all I did.

I got my Nexus One and my Tmobile plan this week. They suggested I take out the phone insurance which was $4.99 /month. So I did and with whatever discount they're giving me for being a AAA member, it equates to paying just $2.49/mo for the insurance.

The guy told me that if the phone would become ruined, I could replace it with this insurance for either $130 or $160.
