Hi - new android user

I've just got my new Android phone a few weeks ago (Woo Hoo!)

.. and i've rooted it, mainly cuz i wanted to put Hebrew on it.

I finally managed to get it to work, and now i have SU permission.

the only problem is,

I can't surf the internet.
I am able to connect to a wifi network, and do anything else on the phone-
but for some strange reason- i can't get internet.

that means no market, no google maps, nada.

My system:
Motorola XT701 (similar to XT720), Android 2.1-update 1,
kernel system 2.6.29-omap1

Have you tried different WIFI connections? DHCP? Static IP?

I have tried several different configs for the wifi.
The thing is that I HAVE managed to connect to my wifi twice before (WPA and WEP) after playing around with different apps on the phone, using task manager to close some, and then restart and run something else.

It was a combination of different settings that I just can't re-produce.

So I know the problem is not with the wifi settings.

I heard it could be an OS problem.

(I am able to surf through 3G though).
