Hello
I bought the HTC Magic after much (or now it seems not enough) thought. I am not an avid txt-er; preferring my pc/emails etc and i like to keep a reign on my spending. I currently have an Orange PAYG sim and on a bad month of usage top it up by £5.00!
I used to have a PDA that i did use alot. Used it to help with my poor memory and as it was a Microsoft OS i could program apps for my own needs. It served a good purpose. The size was not ideal and i ended up having to go around with a mobile and PDA all in the same bag/pocket. Ive been waiting for something that was more powerful than the old PDA and was not Microsoft OS powered. Hence the interest in the Google Android.
What i want to do is many things. Also as time goes by and start to see how these possibilities can assist me than i can come up with more ideas.
I want to connect to the internet whilst at home via my wifi connection. I want to create a connection via Bluetooth that when my pc and the HTC Magic is on that certain info e.g. (Thunderbird) contacts and calendar, documents, static (offline) webpages etc are uploaded to my phone (syncing!!!). I could program this feature myself.
Ok so i have placed my Orange PAYG sim card into the phone, it finds the wifi connection but am told 'Sim not provisioned for data services'. Am also unable to connect to any webpage.
I have been to Vodaphone explaining all this, they say it is due to not having a monthly contract sim card. Once i was to have this that all the features will be available.
Would unlocking the phone from Vodaphone allow me access to ALL features of the phone/google etc?? I dont realy want to spend an extra £10.00 p/m.
Does this ring truthful to people? What have other people found? What do you think? Can anyone help me???
Many thanks
