Nokia getting ready to unveil 'tube' touchscreen handset

I used Nokia phones for probably the first 4 years of owning a mobile phone. I always liked their interface and simplicity.

Well, Nokia are set to unveil their own iPhone/G1 rival in their first touchscreen handset - codenamed 'tube'.

There's not much known about the 'tube' other than these suspected specs and leaked pic.

• A-GPS
• Wi-Fi
• 640×360 touchscreen
• Symbian S60
• 8GB SD card for music

Both sources said Nokia would unveil its new phone -- code-named "Tube" -- on October 2 at an analyst and media event in London. A Nokia spokeswoman declined to comment.


"The phone is extremely important," said Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi. "We have been waiting for the market leader to respond to Apple's iPhone for a year and a half now. There is a lot of pressure on Nokia."
