With the new phone, I can leave all features on (3G, Wi-Fi, GPS) and go all day. At about 10PM at night I still have about 40 percent left..

I really believe that something in the hardware changed....

What version of firmware is the new phone running? Is it different to your old handset?

It came with RC29 loaded and then I received the RC30 upgrade about 2 days later..... No change in battery performance from 29 to 30.... Still very good..

Just appears to be a different naming structure/firmware bundles.

The UK G1 was originally shipped with RC8 and then a few weeks after launch was offered the RC8 firmware (reports suggest the RC8 update was a combination of the RC29+RC30 fixes from the US).

To completely turn off the G1, just hold down the 'end call' button for a few seconds and the menu will appear.

I'm not talking about turning off phone but 3G network usage.
I have ticked in Settings - Mobile network settings - use only 2G networks but the icon of 3G network is still at the notification screen .....

Sorry, i mis-read your question.

I've just tried this using:
Quote:
Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile networks

There are settings there for data roaming and 2G only.
After a few seconds the icon went. Try accessing email/internet or restarting the phone.

I've noticed that many of the applications stay running in the backgound if you don't close all the way out of them. I was having terrible battery life after downloading apps. just make sure to use the back key to get all the way out instead of using the home key. doing this has helped my battery llife by at least 25%.

I just noticed something strange.
Yesterday just before 11pm I had 23% of power in my G1, because its a new one (only 2 cycles done) I didn't want to recharge it so I switch whole mobile off.
At the morning today I’ve been surprised by 100% of power. Why??
And now after an hour of watching movie in bus and 3 hours of normal working in my way to job it is 30% .........
Very strange and unusual...

Edit:
2 hours later still got power 2% :/ (Using a lot off Maps) maybe rather than charging it after run of power just switch off for 5 min. and back on :O
