I have let my battery drain 2 times now all the way 0 %, resulting in the phone shutting off, and then charged to 100 % and it seems to be lasting much longer. I went from 8 hours battery life with 3G on and wifi/gps off, to over 24 hours. During these times I have used my phone for 30 minutes worth of calls each time, and 200 + texts back and forth... I am happy to see an increase in battery life... but a spare may still be the solution

Hi peeps!
Battery is terrible, All these tips about helping you save your battery life by
Turning everything off shouldn't be the solution , I bought my G1 assuming
That I would be able to use all my applications my phone came with, I suggest
They do somthing before sales start dropping, I had a iphone and battery life is
Excellent why can't google do the same. Shame really if you ask me , a phone is
No good if every hour you have to keep charging or more still keep it plugged in to use
It thought we got passed that generation,

What did everyone expect? A high-rez, wi-fi equipped, GPS enabled, 3G web browsing phone is not going to have the battery life of a basic Nokia! And don't act like the iPhone 3G doesn't have the same issue, because it does. This much goodness in one gadget will come at a price.

Are any of you guys on the RC 30 update?

All the G1 owners who i've talked to about the latest update have all said they have noticed much improved battery life, along with a cooler running temp for the handset.

Have you heard that a group of scientist in South Korea have created a new lithium battery that increases battery life by 90%. So just hold on this will allow for new more powerful devices. Just think how much more you could do with that much extra power. This new battery is said to be compatible with laptops and cell phones.

I'm right along w/ every one else. We need a long life battey. None available yet so I am checking into the previous suggestion for a Tekkeon TekCharge 1800. I have turned off all the functions I can & still it won't last a full work day w/o a mid day charge....yuk!

I have been having alot of problems in regards to my battery power. i have to charge my phone about 3 times a day. i read on another forum that the battery power was meant to be improved after the update. i havent noticed any changes in the battery life.

the battery is the only negative thing about this phone.

Are you a heavy user? If you're only using the G1 moderately that does sound ike excessive battery drainage.

It may be worth calling T-Mobile, or calling in it a store to get a replacement battery.

Might be worth a shot.
