Just found this article published on the telegraph.co.uk website:

As you can see the reporter added images of the HTC Touch HD in the article?

Do they know something we don't or is this just careless reporting?

Yeah it was just a mistake. The next Android phone (G2?) is believed to be purely touchscreen based so we might see something similar to the Touch HD.
