I have an HTC Hero (orange UK branded) with the stock orange 2.1 update on. Since I got it it has proven to be very bad. Sometimes I have to reboot the phone so as to stop the lag. I have on occasions counted 17 in my head before the phone dials a number!
Anyway, I downloaded a prog from the Android Market, called Quadrant. I ran a full test and the result was no surprise to me - 183! This put's it slower than the HTC Magic! I am not too worried about it, because I am weeks away from upgrading my phone - getting a new Desire HD.
Was interesting to note that using Quadrant, someone worked out that the Desire Z (G2) with a stated clock speed of 800 mHz was actually faster than a Samsung Galaxy S! Faster even than a Nexus One with 2.2+.
I will do another quadrant test when I get my new phone, but chances are it could (mathematically at least) be more than ten times faster than my Hero!
So, am I the only Hero owner with standard 2.1 on that has huge lag problems?
