New android user....need help with pic mail

just got the htc hero from sprint on october 9th, but i cant figure out one simple thing. when i get a picture mail it comes as a slide show, in the preview i can tell what the pic is but when i click it i get a black screen that stays there for about 5 seconds. i cant hit anything on phone..then it goes back to the original msg. please help, thanx.

Same thing here, or I get a link to view the picture. Like old iPhone

so if i hit menu b4 it returns back to the msg, like the millisecond i get....i can save the image and then view it. alot of trouble for a pic mail. any ideas? is there any expected updates or new firmwares? im running 1.5.

we got a funny guy here, yea i could get the "real" one if i wanted to pay more and not have 3g here...umm no.
