Another issue!

Now my HTC Sync application on my PC won't see that the phone is connected and therefore I can't sync!

Its a different software, if you are looking to get access to files in your phone/memory card go to: connect phone to computer, look up top on notification area and drag down, tap on USB Connected and select MOUNT

No, not looking to get access to the SD card, that works OK.

The HTC Sync software is installed on my PC and by rights as soon as the phone is connected via USB the Sync software should see the phone and connect to it. Once connected I should be able to synchronise the contacts with Outlook.

Unfortunately HTC Sync doesn't see the phone so I can't sync.

The only way I've been able to do this is by closing HTC Sync from the status bar, or when this hasn't worked I've had to uninstall HTC Sync and reinstall.

It happens the same with my Hero sometimes. Sometimes I'm able to fix it by resetting the handset (task killer doesn't fix it) ... other times I need to restart my Windows XP Laptop. I've not understood wich is the process on the PC side stalled/in the wrong state.

I can't get my Windows XP SP3 PC to recognise my HTC Hero (on T-Mobile UK). This is the third version of HTC Sync software that I've installed on my PC and all of them have been a bit dodgy, but this latest version from HTC (2.0.8) simply refuses to sync with my phone. No amount of re-booting, re-installing and re-setting my phone or PC has had any effect.

I thought this might be a universal problem with v2.0.8 but there doesn't appear to be much traffic about the problem in these forums so maybe it's just me???

I have the same issues...running XP SP3....tried 2.0.2 from phone, this worked initially then went wrong and refused to work.

I upgraded to 2.0.8 and this can see the phone from Tools, Phone Monitor options and yet states the phone is disconnected, sometimes it attempts to start the sync then says the connection to the phone has been lost!

And as the WAINWDA stated, I also cant find much about this issue anywhere, so I signed up on here in the hope someone can help?

I am having this problem aswell. I'm from the Netherlands and just bought an HTC Hero of KPN (an dutch telecom service). I want to get HTC Sync to see my Hero because i want to get the new ROM update for the HTC Hero which fixes the laggyness and makes it fast and smooth and also fixes alot of bugs, but on the HTC website it tells me that i need HTC Sync first. but I found it rather unclear how they said how to get it, telling me that its on the provided SD card but there was recent news which gave an newer version of HTC Sync than the provided one on the SD card.

but could anyone please, please provide me with info on how to let HTC Sync work with my phone? I installed the latest HTC Sync from the website of HTC, and then connected my HTC Hero but nothing happens the icon in the lower right corner tells me only ''disconnected'' or something in that way (translated from the dutch ''verbinding vebroken'')

could anyone provide me with info on the new ROM update else, im really confused now

I have the same problem. The only way I can get my phone to connect is to tell the phone to connect to my PC. In order to get that to work I had to go into device manager on windows and remove the driver for the phone and let it reinstall once that did the I could connect via the phone to my pc for sync.
