Can anyone tell me how to get my G2 to view photos by folders? Currently it is really annoying because I have a lot of photos on my mSD card but when I use the albums app it only allows me to view everything under the folder 'All Photos'
I have all of my photos saved on the mSD in folders but I would prefer to be able to view them in that way rather than all together????
Sorry, solved!

It was straight forward, I stopped putting the folders into the DCIM which the phone uses for storing pictures taken with the internal camera and made a new folder called pictures.
Once I had done this the pictures show up in the albums app and they are orgnised by folders.
I noticed another post in the android forum and the user places them into sdcard/media/pictures/ but I just use /sdcard/pictures, this seems to work.

While doing the exact same thing you describe, I have noticed that the Albums app won't see the photos if I save them from a webpage and then manually move them somewhere else using some kind of file manager (Astro).
I've been looking for a good way to get Albums to see these changes and I thought clearing the app cache (for Albums) would help, but it's working inconsistently.

Hopefully a senior member for the forum might provide some more help or I am hoping that this new software update from HTC will solve some of these inconsistencies.

Interesting that, JayJay.
On another thread I have posted an issue about photos not showing up in the Album app and on reading your post the penny dropped and I realised that the photos that were missing were ones that I downloaded from my facebook page directly to my Hero...
However, four of the photos that I put in a different folder are viewable!!!
I'm stumped!

Ok, so I've tried something else...
I downloaded the photos from facebook directly to my PC and renamed them all before dragging them to a new folder.
I've copied them to my Hero via USB and they still do not show up in the album!
I've copied random photos to all 5 folders and they show up in all but this 'ghost' folder.
This is truly puzzling!

I think they show up because you unmount and remount your SD-card from your Hero when you connect USB to your computer. I've also found that whenever I turn the MicroSD "off" to transfer files, the Albums app finds everything I moved to the card. If I just move stuff internally, without connecting to the computer, Album doesn't see the changes.
BUT, I have since found a workaround that always works. What you do is use a Filemanager such as astro and delete the whole folder named ".thumbnails" under the DCIM folder. When that one's missing, Albums will rescan the whole SD card and see all photos in all places. Observer that .thumbnails is a hidden folder, so you must tell Astro to view hidden stuff.

Nope, already tried that JayJay, doesn't work for me.
I've even tried a widget called SDrescan, no joy.

Just yesterday I tested it out: I have this folder on my sd, let's call it "stuff". It had 12 images in it. I connected my usb, mounted. On my computer i then moved 300 images over to the stuff folder, unmounted the usb-cable and removed the cable.
After this I started "Albums" and it said my "stuff" -folder still had only 12 images. Thing is. I put my phone away for a couple of seconds and did nothing. Next time I watched the screen, it said 312 images! I have no idea when it happened, I only know they appeared in the /sdcard/photos/stuff folder without me doing anything.
I read somewhere else too, that a "remount" of the sd card was necessary in order for new photos to be seen.
Deleting the thumbnails folder DEFINITELY works though. If the folder's not there, Albums doesn't have any thumbnails to "remember", so that technique is well-tested for me. Now, with 312 images in my stuff folder, I can no longer just delete thumbnails, because recreating them takes a LONG time.
Oh, and I'm running MoDaCo:s new ROM, so there might be some differences in how Album works...
