Google Contact Sync & Address book sorting

Hi all,

Proud owner of a HTC Hero Graphite on Orange UK as of, well, today!

I've used Google Contacts in the past - and have my iPhone set to Exchange Sync with Google Contacts (and therefore have the same contacts on both my phones).

It's a pity the default Google Sync managed to pull all 1100 email contacts on the phone, and not just the 'My Contacts' which I use for phone numbers. But I setup Microsoft ActiveSync Exchange sync to m.google.com and that was sorted...

However, whatever I do, address book entries are all listed as:
Last,First

But if you edit the entry, don't actually edit anything, then Save, it reverts to First,Last.
I don't want (or should need!) to do this for all 250 contacts.. surely there's some way to fix this?

I've tried changing all entries in Google to be in just the 'last name' section with no first name... Didn't seem to work.
And I can't swap them - as then they'll be the wrong way round on the iPhone!

I've had a look for an App that might swap all the contacts round (you need to do this under Windows Mobile, so I'm not too suprised) but not found anything yet. People seem to complain about the First Name sorting -- yet I have it the other way round and actually want First Name sorting

So any help gratefully received

I got mine last week, i'm really happy with it but am also experiencing some major issues with the way my names are displayed in my phone book. If anyone has any advice for getting the names in alphabetical and 1st/last name order i'd love to know. Thanks

I don't suppose anyone has a solution to this issue as yet, new android phone is great but not being able to sort names properly is a real draw back
