Does anyone know what carrier the HTC Hero will likely be on in the United States?

I saw that there is a rumor that Sprint is testing it, but all of those articles emphasize the fact that it is unconfirmed. I think Sprint uses CDMA, as does Verizon, as their network. If Verizon was smart, it would definitely get this phone because it looks like prime competition for the iPhone as long as it's on a good network. Sprint is out of the question in my area.

The tech specks of the phone say it runs both GSM and CDMA, what does that mean anyway? Is it possible the phone will not be released carrier specific in the US?

Where does it say GSM & CDMA??? The HTC site says the european version runs quad-band EDGE & dual band 900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA. The U.S carrier is guaranteed to be AT&T since T-Mo's CEO has said they won't be bringing it to market AND a version with AT&T/Roger's 3G frequencies has just cleared the FCC.

Frankly I'm happy to finally get AT&T 3G in my Android
