Kies doesn't update my galaxy S

I have Samsung Glaxy S running 2.1-update1 firmware.
When I connect it to kies, kies says there is an update avaible for the phone.
After I check box that i understand the hazards of upgrading and press continue, a box appears that says "don't remove phone" and it has a progress bar. After it has gone to 100% box disappears and kies tells again about the same update and my phone isn't upgraded. How i can upgrade it?

Root it with odin, install the upgrade without Kies, I can't hate that darn software enough.
