Is there a book?

I am new to Android...and have a Samsung Vibrant. I feel like an idiot. Is there a book or something I could buy that will help me with the basics, things like 'my calendar' and general questions about things? Or, is this the place for that?

My calendar is not working correctly, or I am not doing something right. If I put something in my google calendar on my Vibrant, it's not showing up on my desktop google calendar. And yes, my vibrant says it's synching.

Also, isn't it supposed to be synching all of my contacts from my phone to my desktop and vice versa?

Hi Robyn welcome to the forums

for the calendar & at the homescreen, press the menu button > settings > Accounts & Sync > now tap the account on the bottom you'd like to sync and be sure that the box next to calendar is checked.

You also want to make sure that background data and auto-sync are equipped as well.

Also in the same place you made sure you calendar is syncing, is where you can make sure your contacts are set to sync as well.

am using Samsung Vibrant. I am able to enter events in my google calendar on the web and have them show up in my phone. But, the events I enter into my calendar on my phone do not show up in my google calendar online.

Here are the settings on my phone:

ACCOUNTS AND SYNC
sync calendar
sync contacts
sync gmail

All of these are checked.
Auto sync is checked
background data is checked

What am I doing wrong????

when you're creating an event, make sure that under Calendar, instead of "my calendar" it has your google account email address. Otherwise you're just creating the events locally and that'd be why they're not appearing online
