Hi all, first post here, sorry it's a cry for help!
I have a new Desire and so I am doing the usual backups and so-on before I move over from my G2 and I have hit a snag.
I have all my contacts on my G2, they aren't held anywhere else because I recently nuked the bloated and obsolete contacts list on my Windows Live Mail (which has subsequently deleted my Hotmail contacts too). Now how on Earth can I get those contacts from the phone to somewhere that I can then import them onto the new Desire from?
I found out that apparently you can only sync contacts that are a 'Google' contact type, so I've run an app that changes them all to that, but then what? HTC Sync isn't importing them onto my pc and there doesn't appear to be any way to upload them in to the Googlemail 'cloud'. And every time I try to do a sync with google through the Contacts list menu I get an error message saying that 'android.process.acore' has failed - I assume this is what is preventing the sync with googlemail from working?
I bought MyBackup Pro and backed up my data to the sim card, the only way I could find to do it, put my sim and sd card in the new Desire, downloaded MyBackup from the Marketplace and guess what... MyBackup Pro doesn't exist for the Desire and the free version won't restore data backed up on another device. Aaargh!!!!!!!
I have this awesome phone (and it *is* awesome, I've been playing with it) and I'm going to have to keep using the Hero until I can find some way to sort this out.
I wish I could sync my contacts from my phone to my laptop, that wouldmake things easier.
Has anyone else had this problem? How can I stop this acore thing crashing all the time?
Cheers!
