Problem using G1 as USB storage device

when u connect G1 to yous pc usb icon will appear on left corner on G1.

pull usb icon down and press usb icon

you will see the option MOUNT/UNMOUNT

DO WHAT U WANT TO DO

When I connect to pc, I do not get a usb icon on the phone and I get an error message on pc "USB device not recognized" with Vista Ultimate.

Unknown device listed in Device Manager under USB contollers.

I have the RC29 update.

Are you running as Administrator in Vista when connecting the device?

Yes I am running as administrator. Using 8gb Micro SDHC card.

yo whats up my fello g1ers.im having a problem getting the phone to to connect wit my mac.. everything works up to the point were i get the usb sing on top left corner and it askesmy to mount or unmount. i click mount and nothing pops up on the screen.if anyone has a mac they know that i should be pop up right on the desk top..i pretty sure taht i need to download something.but what if anyone can help me cool beans

I was super frustrated by the change to when trying to load up some of my favorite podcasts—I found the answer on another forum and felt kind of stupid when I read it. When you plug in the phone now- you will see an alert come across the top of the alert bar. Select that and select the option to “Mount” your phone. Simple as that. Hope it helps

I must be the dumbest of the dumber....Because my computer does not recognize the G1...I do NOT get the mass storage option under Settings/SD Card and Phone Storage. I do NOT get a USB icon on the left and there is no alert at the top.....And I am the adminstrator. I have RC30....

Please help......
