I have a G1, and it use to work, but when the screen "timed out" and went dark so it doesn't use up as much battery, it would take me pushing "power, then menu, then power, then menu" over and over again until the screen finally clicked on to allow me to go to the main screen.
Well, to aleviate this, I just turned my settings to "never timeout", so that way the screen always stays on.
Well, my friend was using my phone today, and he hit the power button to turn the screen dark..... now my phone won't turn on. It just shows me this when booting up:

The error reads line for line:

Ok, I should add that this phone was bought in February 2009. I am paying for the insurance on it, but they say that it would still cost me $139 for insurance to replace it. What the hell? This phone should be working, and I definately shouldn't have to pay that much seeing I have insurance.
Any idea what is wrong with my phone, and how to fix it, if it's even possible? Thanks.
I should add that I have done the Home & Power button and did the Alt + W reset, but that leads me to that same screen. When I do an Alt + L to see the list of commands, the first line says that...
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command.
Also, I'm pretty sure that before that screen, it flashes a gray screen that says "no image file found". I can only assume something in the opperating system is messed up and it needs to be formatted and basically re-installed. Any ideas? I'm grasping at straws here, but I'm so mad that this phone has been a headache since day 1 and now has taken a full **bleep** on me.
