When you first turn the phone on and import contacts from the sim, it also sends them to your gmail. From the home screen press menu, then select "data synchronization". You should be able to uncheck and then check again the "contacts" selection and your phone syncs up with the contacts it sent to your gmail. I had to do this when I somehow lost all my contacts and would force close when I'd try importing them from sim. Hope this helps!
