Yeah i know this might be a little 'out there', but really couldn't the most recent images of the supposed Dream device just be doctored shots of the prototype?

Everything we've seen so far about the handset has been from 'sources' and 'leaked info', does anyone believe that we have yet to see the real hardware for Android's debut?

Or is this just wishful thinking?

Ok i'll bite

Way back in March of this year there were comparisons drawn between the HTC Dream and the HTC Omni.

Personally i'd be over the moon if they turned round and threw the Omni at us instead - that's something i've been trying not get my hopes up over though!

Here's some specs of the HTC Omni - it does seem to match up to some degree to what we've heard of the Dream so far...
  • 32 bit Qualcomm MSM7200 Chipset, 384 MHZ CPU Clock
  • 256 MB ROM
  • 128 RAM
  • 800 x 480 px TFT 262 color touchscreen
  • GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100 connectivity
  • CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA data support
  • Built-in QWERTY-type keyboard, 65 keys
  • SDIO, microSD, TransFlash expansion slots
  • USB 2.0 client, 60Mbit/s , USB Series Mini-B (mini-USB) connector
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • 802.11b, 802.11g
  • NMEA 0183 , 20 channels built-in GPS
  • 3.1 Mpx camera with LED flash
  • 640×480 VGA secondary camera
  • Dimensions: 81 x 130 x 16 mm

Is it at all possible that the HTC Dream/G1 'leaked' images we've seen to date have just been fakes?-htc-omni-horizontal.jpg

Hmm the HTC Omni... yeah that's a real long shot.

In any case i'd prefer the Dream over the Nintendo DS-like Omni anyway. Regardless of it being shiny and black

EDIT: For added clarity here's the approved FCC diagram:

Whilst it is possible that the finished handset may differ from the shots we've seen of the Dream so far, a complete overhaul for the Omni is highly doubtful.

Unless ofcourse this was just a decoy
