Am I correct in thinking that the UK G1 firmware builds are numbered differently to the US... So although I only have RC8 it's not as far away as you would think from the US RC33??

Yup you're right, the naming scheme between the UK and US updates are very different.

Hopefully the next update we see in the UK (RC9?), will bring us inline with the features of the RC33 update.

Although many are starting to think that the delay in issuing the UK update may have something to do with the April release of the HTC Magic (that handset will include a new update once again featuring parts of the Cupcake dev branch).

whether Google/T-Mobile UK are holding off to hit the UK/Europe with 1 update rather than 2 in quick succession remains to be seen.

Hi Andor,

Thank you for the quick reply.... it wouldn't surprise me if they were holding off with the updates, although I personnaly would prefer it if they wouldn't.

Just noticed your signature about the T-mobile UK group as well so I'll have a look in there

Installing RC9 right now... based in Newcastle area ...

Oh and as a side note... anyone know if there is a change log for this build ? I have no idea what if anything has changed

OK adding an edit as it's installed: so far I can see that there is a check for updates button in the phone info area of settings. And I can see that the radio (baseband version) is the latest ... I don't event know what that means

other than that I can't see any changes...

Not yet received it. I see mixed reports on various forums as to whether RC9 includes Latitude.

Can anyone confirm?

I've had RC9 for 24 hours now and had plenty of time to play.

The main change is to the Market, which now shows you if updates are available for your installed apps. We also get access to paid apps, but as yet there are none.

Pictures via MMS can be saved by long press.

Search for future OS updates now available via settings.

I also believe there is a "Sim Tools" option in settings that some people are reporting, but haven't got this personally.

NO voice search

NO Latitude
