I am having the hardest time finding a way to access my work email (Outlook) on my new Evo 4g phone. My IT person tried helping me today, but didnt know much about the phone or the process. I think we figured out I cannot access it via "Active Sync" b/c our server "does not support android phones yet." I do have a way of access my email off-site/off-server and do not know if that helps at all. Is there a way to access my Outlook email through gmail, or do you know ANY other options I can try? Thank you tons!
I would try the trial versions of the different exchange apps out there. I know TouchDown is fairly popular, and if it works for you in the trial then is is worth your money. K9 is another popular app to try out as well before purchasing. Good Luck!
I'm having the same problem. Apparently the email server certificate used by my company isn't a "mainstream" certificate (ie. GoDaddy) and the Evo doesn't like that. I was able to get Touchdown to work but I wasn't happy with it so I'm not going to buy it. I emailed HTC support and they weren't much help other than to suggest I call their tech. support line (waited for 15min and gave up). I'm not thrilled to have work email on my personal phone anyway so I'm probably going to leave it as is, but setting up Touchdown was quick and easy.
If you have web mail access you should'nt be able to set your email account up like a pop account? The only thing about setting it up like a pop account is that your phone has to ping the server to get the email. I really wish there was an option to push email from pop accounts...
not sure if you're still looking for help on this, if you have OWA. Your IT department just needs to configure some tiny tweaks for activesync to work. If you IT department is still unsure, i'm more than happy to provide them instructions on how to set Activesync up. I Use my own security certificates so "you don't need a known publisher" for it to work.
Have your IT department can check if Activesync is configured correctly on the Exchange server.
