I do not have my phone yet, but I heard most people are just using the Skype Video chat version. When I get the phone I will find out more.

Oh crap, I forgot. I always forget that everything posted on the internet is real and true.
Dangit all!
I went back through and did some re-reading. It might be possible there will be a fee for using qik. I do not quite understand it yet though. Their may or may not be some sort of "Premium" service they will offer.
But as it stands now the normal qik is free. But if there happens to be a "Premium" version of the app. I think your looking at an extra 5 bucks. I am not sure if its a one time thing, or a monthly fee.

for all of those still wondering, Qik had issues with their servers. they pulled the app off the marketplace. until yesterday. the Qik for HTC Evo 4G app is out and working well. the download replaces the current orange version that was preloaded on the phone

Yup this is true ^
I installed it yesterday, sad part is I cannot test it, I do not know anyone with the program, or a video phone to connect with. Oh well someday!

allegedly, i heard that the video chat worked for any cell you called. when you try to connect to someone, they receive a text with a link, directing them to a webpage where they can still see the video of you, but you are unable to see them. i tried testing this yesterday, but whenever the other person went to the page, and clicked 'accept', the program would pause, and the call would be rejected. maybe a few minor bugs to work out yet
