I was downloading mp3s with battery at 70%, then get a warning that the battery was at 5%. Plugged in charger and battery up to 60%. WTF?? Plus, is there a way to see if installed apps are affecting anything else than what they state before installing?? I have Droid running 2.1 (waiting patiently for 2.2).

I have had that happen on my Droid as well especially if it gets too hot. Could just be a hiccup in the sensor that is reset when plugged in.

What mine did was say battery was redline but it really wasn't I was able to make it home two hours later and the battery was still red. Once I plugged it in up went the meter to the correct percent. I never understood why but apparently my battery was not as dead as it was telling me.

I have had the same situation. Seems when the battery has been low, then recharged (hours or overnight) frequently the first use will result in this 'red' alarm warning <5% battery. plugging in immediately reads 70% charged; 5 minutes or so and it's 100%. I would say the >5% alarm is false.

I've had this happen before out of nowhere as well. Normally I just power the phone off/on and it fixes itself. It's never turned off by itself because of the battery reading incorrectly but it's still annoying. I've searched around for a fix and haven't been able to find anything.

I`m seeing the same from time to time on my Motorola, no matter what you are doing. Usual reset will fix it.
