Well this may turn out to be a dumb question but did you make sure to drag down the notification bar and click the USB Connected notification after you plugged in? That mounts the SD Card in Windows so you can browse files.

The notification bar is that place at the top of the screen where the time, 3g bars, signal bars, etc. are displayed. If you drag it down towards the bottom of the phone all the notifications are listed for you. When you plug in your phone to your computer you drag that bar down, tap USB connected, than tap mount so the computer recognizes the device. You should be able to see it listed under devices.

I hope this helps.

If that doesn't work, go to menu, settings, applications, development, and enable USB debugging. For some reason when I connect my phone to the PC via USB nothing happens unless debugging is enabled.
