I made a phone call after using advanced task killer and then I checked it again immediately and found there were anywhere from 4-6 apps running in the background again. what's this all about?

These are apps that have force-open. They are forced to run at all times. Some can be permanently stopped under your choice but you need to check each one individually and their settings. Some are actually required in order to run the phone though.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it I only use advanced task killer when some program (like Uniwar) hangs or freezes. Doesn't happen often but a task kill helps.

Just because an app is listed doesn't mean it's using battery. Android runs differently from Windows.

I have to disagree. I am able to drain down a battery to zero in less than 9 hours. The advanced task killer just doesn't work. I can kill every app and every app is back less than one minute later. Pulling the battery is the only guaranteed way of killing a 3rd party app.

I really don't get how people get such terrible battery life. I have my 2 gmail accounts & 2 twitter accounts syncing every 30 mins, wifi on, display on auto, haptic feedback on and I unplug my phone at about 8:30am and it easily lasts until i go to sleep after midnight. I do probably 15 mins of internet browsing and 10 mins of game playing each day.

I'm running a nexus one with the stock 2.2 and I dont use a task killer in any way, shape or form.

dont use task killers! they do more harm than good. think to yourself..."maybe my task killer is draining my battery?'' uninstall it an get system panel from the market. it monitors your system and gives you a % of how much battery each app is using and it gives you the option to kill any task or apps that maybe killing your battery. i repeat...do not use task killers...they. are. worthless.
