I love the Eris, but I'm having a serious problem of the phone answering an incoming call while it's in my pocket without my knowing it. Even with the volume at max, minor movement in my pocket by walking, changing seating position etc apparently moves the screen enough to answer the incoming call sometimes before the first ring. If the volume is too low, I also don't hear it ring and it will often answer without my knowing it. This has happend numerous times. I have added the '4 dot lock pattern' which prevents it from dialing the phone unintentionally, but haven't found a way to disable the touch screen so you have to press the green button to answer the incoming phone call.

Anyone know of a solution/work around? Thanks!

I have the Eris and have not ran into this issue. I also haven't heard of anyone else with an Eris having a problem like this. As for not being able to hear it ringing you could try disabling "Quiet ring on pickup" which is located under Settings > Sound & Display.

Thanks - I'll try disabling the 'quiet ring on pickup' as well.

I have another co-worker that experiences the same thing with the phone answering the incoming call while it's in his pocket without his knowledge.

I have had this problem as well. I have followed your advice to disable "quiet ring on pickup" which will help when the sound is on. I don't think this will help when the phone is silent or on vibrate.

There is an app called "The Operator" which declines incoming calls. Does anyone have experience with it?
