I use Taskiller to "kill" or end active programs that I'm not using, so as to reduce battery drain. I notice with 2.1 that every time I power up, lots of apps are launched automatically. This wasn't the case with 1.9. Anybody know if there's a way to prevent this?

it's always done that for me. when i turn it on, everything beings to run. that's why task killer is necessary because apps will run all the time without it.

the thing that verizon would market when the phones first came out was that it could run multiple apps at the same time. shortly after the release, task killer had to be made because the apps would run the battery down. when the phone powers on, task killer isn't activated, causing all apps to be running. i keep all apps checked (except clock cuz i use it as an alarm) and just hit "kill" before i do anything.

What do you mean when you say you keep all apps checked (except clock)? How do you do that? Are you using the app called 'Taskiller?' How/where do you just hit 'kill'?

i use "advance task killer" and when you open it, you can check what ones you want and don't want to be killed and then on the top of app there is a button that says kill, and it says how much memory is being used by them running. emails, texts, call, they all still come through. if i use a couple things or a game, i always use task killer after it cuz games if you keep them running can slow down your phone.

is your task killer icon red? mine is green. if you go to market and search advance task killer, or probably just task killer, it will show up. it's the first option when i do it.

you're welcome

yeah, i cannot use real clocks and i found that if you "kill" the clock/alarm app, it will not go off. it's the only app i've found that does not work if you "kill" it. all the others do work, it's just not running your phone down.
