Hi- I recently downloaded the new software update. Now, whenever my phone locks it requires me to key in a password to unlock it. How can I change it so that I no longer need to key in a password? I do not need my phone password protected and it is quite a pain.

Thank you. I tried in the setting>>security. but could not find a way to turn it off.

settings security>and un-click require pattern. that should work.

i know i had one before and it just kept it on after the update, but i just reset it and clicked the button. my phone will call people and send messages if i don't lock pattern it.

if that doesn't work, i'd bring it to a tech. that's the only way i know how to undo it.

This is a new security feature with Android 2.1. It is for people with exchange server. It requires a password to login every time your phone goes dark. To get rid of this I was told to shut the "password required" feature off on the exchange server. I have not yet figured out the rest of the steps...but I started working on gettting this fixed yesterday!

Could someone help? I'm not on an exchange server, and I really want to get rid of the password requirement. It is a huge pain. My only choices under Security are Visible Passwords, Install from SD Card, Set Password (which only allows password changes not deleting password). Two greyed-out options are Use Secure Credentials and Clear Storage--I can't choose either. I would be tremendously grateful if someone could help!

I just upgraded to the new software version yesterday, and I am also having the problem of my e-mail password being required on the start screen. This was not a problem before the upgrade.

Rah Rah etc, the "set unlock pattern" is no longer an option on 2.1. The only pertinent option under the Security menu is to change the unlock password (not disable it).

Otpkeith, I'm not sure if different exchange servers show different options, but there is no "password required" feature on my exchange server settings. The only option to disable (at least for me) is "require SSL encryption," and turning that off causes error messages.

This is a total pain in the butt. My work e-mail (the one I'm using exchange for) requires complex passwords, and having to type it in everytime I wake up my phone is not cool.

Sounds like my only option is to go to the Verizon store?
