I have slipped and forgotten to delete messages and now I have over 2000 messages in one thread. When I try deleting the whole thread it freezes my phone and does not delete the messages. I have also tried deleting them one by one but it freezes when I do that. I have searched for a forum about this many times but I haven't found anything but another post that wasnt anwered. Please tell me how to fix this.

I've been having the same problem. My phone won't let me delete even one thread. It just forces my messages to close and the thread is still there when I go back in. I've tried clearing the cache and data in the messaging app and that hasn't helped either.

I found an app that helped delete all of my text messages. Even the thread that was 4000+ texts long. It's called "SMS Quick Delete." It lets you go through and select which messages in the thread you want deleted, so you could delete, say, 200 text messages at a time if you wanted. You can also delete the whole thread. It didn't seem to work with 4000 text messages but I used the app to delete 200 or so at a time until it was under 3000 and then I deleted the whole thread. I selected to delete the thread and went to bed (it still takes a while to do). I woke up in the middle of the night and all the texts were deleted! My messages run so much faster now!
