Calandar agenda

Does the Eris have the ability to scroll daily monthly yearly through my calandar like my old Blackberry and sink with important information (birthdays, anniversary etc) located within my address book?

It does scroll on the monthly setting just by swiping from top to bottom vice versa. Press Menu and explore the options. I will say that if you do not have a Google account with gmail, calendar etc. you should get one because it syncs so well with the Google stuff. Then get Facebook for communication and photo capability.
