Go into your Home contact card, choose "Edit" in the Menu
scroll down and or "Ringtone" it should say "Default." change that

if you want to make a customized ringtone download Ringdroid from the Android Market and use that to make any MP3 on your SD card into a ringtone

also, if you mount your phone on a computer as a USB drive, make a folder in the root directory called "Ringtones" and one called "Notifications". Any MP3s or .wav files you put in ringtones will be selectable as ringtones. Sound files you put into notifications have to be .wav files (mp3s will not work).
