When I chose this phone, I specifically asked the salesman about Google Maps and Google Navigation. I had Verizon Navigator on my last phone that gives verbal turn-by-turn instructions so there was NO WAY I could go back to reading directions off the phone. He assured me that all I had to do was download Google Voice.
Well, I have downloaded Google Voice to my home computer and I already have a Google account, but I have been unable to get a Google Voice account. And now I've found out that Google Maps Navigation requires the Droid 1.6 or higher OS and the Eris only has 1.5
This is is bad. While I love Shazam, ShopSavvy, and SportsTap, they are "nice to have," while navigation is a real necessity.
Also there is a problem with synchronizing the contacts with Google contacts. I get an error message that read "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I've tried EVERY fix on the forum, but so far none of them have worked...
