I live in Portland CT. However, when I am home, the HTC clock/weather widget shows Portland and the time as PST instead of EST.....like it believes I am in Portland Oregon. Anyone have similar experiences or a clue where I might fix this? I know I can manually set a city/location for the widget but the weather portion seems to use what it believes is current even with the manual selection.....kind of driving me nuts!

TIA

Ken

At least I found out I am not the only one. On another forum I found a post from someone in Virginia. His phone puts him in Salem Oregon rather than Salem, VA......what's the link to Oregon I wonder

Does enabling GPS help find your location? You can alternatively open the weather widget then hit the little refresh icon.

The problem seemed to be with the widget keying in on the city name for teh location.....so event though my GPS read Portland, CT...the widget would grab Portland and run with Portland Ore. Seems to have fixed itself up recently though.

Same problem for me. I'm in Portland Maine and it looks like it's tracking Portland, OR. You phone just resolved itself? It would be nice to use that widget....

Okay, another couple of ideas...

1) Open the weather app. Hit settings under the menu options and select update automatically. Maybe that updates your location as well as current conditions?

2) With the app open, drag up or down on the large sun/moon icon to make sure you're on the correct saved location.

3) Open the app, click the "+" button, then click "My Location." It should find where you are, and if not, you can drag to readjust.

Hope that helps! It's working find on my phone, so it's gotta be a settings thang...

Works fine on my phone.....as long as I am not in Portland. Seems to be the same with others where if the town you are in corresponds with a large city out west it places you there instead of where you are. No other apps have this problem, it is localized to this widget.

Currently I am in Wallingford, CT and is has me on EDT, as soon as I go home tonight, it will change my current location to Portland on PDT. So the detection of the name of the city is fine and automatic works fine.....it just screws up when trying to determine what state the city is in. At home if I turn off GPS, it locates me across the river and Cromwell.....again putting me back in the right timezone.
